Character Review: The Dude

My icon. I've always wanted to become the dude. He has to be the most chilled out guy in the world, sitting around in his tattered old shorts and his big cardigan that looks so comfortable. Yeah man. That was what I loved most about him. He always looked so comfortable. Just sitting around in his bath, looking at his beautiful rug. Smoking that old “doobie”. Drinking a lovely looking White Russian. Bah, it looks beautiful. The life.

Yeah yeah yeah crack-heads, I know he isn't a real person. I know its just a movie. I'm not one of those hillbilly looking scary dudes in the States, dressing up like characters from the big lebowski, bowling all day and pretending to be him. (Check out http://www.lebowskifest.com). No, I'm not that sad. I've only seen the movie about 6 times and it is one of my favourite movies.

All I'm saying is; he's my favourite character of all time. He's just too cool and chilled out. He doesn't care if someone doesn't like him, he'll walk out on them (as he does, countless times on Walter, in the movie). He doesn't care what he look's like and most important of all...

...he's a nice guy. He doesn't want to do wrong. Sure, he swears at people. But he doesn't want to steal the million dollars from the old guy. He doesn't want to fight with those guys at the end. It's all down to his best friend Walter. Whom, I believe; we all have in our lives.

Shit. I got kinda sidetracked there. All I'm saying is; this guy is THE ultimate in characters. The Coen brothers and Jeff Bridges are absolute genius' for creating a character of this calibre.

Legendary.
